takes us to the Dal Zotto
winery and cellar doorto join in the fun of tasting some more Italian varietals. Here we find not only the common varieties that Australian wine lovers are very familiar with (such as riesling, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and shiraz), but also Italian wines such as prosecco, arneis, pinot grigio, barbera and sangiovese. Otto Dal Zotto’s family history of tending to vines in the Veneto region of Italy, guaranteed that one day he would look to plant the varieties from the old country here. Dal Zotto’s acclaimed prosecco was also the first Australian expression of this popular Italian sparkling wine made for the Australian marketplace.
On Saturday evening, after having a fun filled day out in the King Valley, guests can unwind in the charming historic town of Beechworth to enjoy a free evening. Sunday morning
kicks off in the mid-late morning with a cellar door tasting at Chrismont
winery and vineyard. This beautiful, undulating property in the heart of the agriculturally rich and diverse King Valley was dedicated initially to tobacco production in the 1960’s. Arnie, with his father Arnold, transitioned the property to wine grape production in the late 1970’s. Over the almost 30 years since then, the King Valley and Chrismont vineyards have become synonymous with the production of high quality wine grapes for red, white, and sparkling wine, especially the Italian varieties. We will be staying at Chrismont for lunch to enjoy the entertainment and food on offer before departing Sunday afternoon
for Melbourne in the mid afternoon.
